We are quickly approaching the scenario described in Revelation!

The Evidence Is Overwhelming Concerning Seal 2

As I write this in January 2026, the world stands at the precipice of World War III. This is not hyperbole. This is documented reality from military analysts, intelligence sources, and public statements from world leaders who are no longer hiding their intentions.

NATO’s Top General Has Uttered the Phrase “Pre-emptive Strike”

Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, who currently serves as Chair of the NATO Military Committee, said in January 2026 that NATO could consider a “pre-emptive strike” as a defensive response to Russian hybrid attacks. Russia didn’t wait an hour before exploding over this comment. Maria Zakharova, the Kremlin’s spokeswoman, called the remark “extremely irresponsible... a deliberate move toward escalation,” warning NATO to “understand the risks and consequences”—Kremlin code for: don’t test us.

NATO’s Chief Warns: “We Must Be Prepared for the Scale of War Our Grandparents Endured”

NATO Chief Mark Rutte delivered a stark address in Berlin in December 2025, explicitly stating: “We must be prepared for the scale of war our grandparents and great-grandparents endured.” He’s talking about World War II levels of conflict—industrial warfare, total mobilization, millions of casualties.

China Moving Nuclear ICBMs Disguised as Cranes on Public Highways

In January 2026, China’s People’s Liberation Army announced a “snap military exercise” around Taiwan. But this was no ordinary exercise. For the first time ever, China began moving Transporter, Erector, Launcher (TEL) trucks carrying Dong Feng nuclear missiles DISGUISED AS CRANES on public highways. Once the sun came up, these nuclear missiles were visible on public roads. China has surrounded Taiwan with naval vessels, aircraft, and now—nuclear-armed missile launchers.

Would China disguise a military takeover of Taiwan as a “snap military exercise”? If it’s only an exercise, why DISGUISE the movement of nuclear ICBMs? Is this a warning to everyone else to stay away—or get nuked?

Iran Warns: “Hell Is Coming to the Middle East”

Iran has issued multiple severe warnings to the United States and Israel. On January 6, 2026, Iran’s reestablished Supreme National Defense Council warned it may act before an attack if it detects “tangible signs” of a threat, stating that Iran’s security and territorial integrity are an “uncrossable red line.”

Intelligence analysts believe the U.S. government is gearing up for a confrontation with China, which implies that Iran needs to be neutralized prior to the onset of that conflict. Hell is coming to the Middle East.

The Money Supply Reveals War Preparation

The U.S. “M2” money supply jumped $1.65 trillion in 2025 to a record $26.7 trillion—the largest annual increase since 2021. Money supply has grown $116 billion PER MONTH. This means the government is printing money out of thin air in preparation for something massive.

As one military analyst put it: “The powers-that-be have been trying desperately to trigger World War 3 to use as cover for the failing money system. They want to be able to blame the coming and unavoidable economic collapse on ‘the war’ and not on their own spending and money-creation.”

The second seal isn’t coming—the eschatological birth pangs are already here. The rider on the red horse has been unleashed, and peace is being systematically taken from the earth.

The Red Horse: Violence Unleashed

The color red speaks unmistakably of blood. While the white horse conquered through perception management and manufactured consent, the red horse operates through raw, brutal force.

Key Elements of the Second Seal

1. Peace Is “Taken”

The Greek word for “take” here (lambano) suggests something actively removed. Peace doesn’t just fade—it is seized away. This implies:

  • Peace was present (or at least perceived)

  • An active agent removes it

  • The removal is sudden and deliberate

The First Seal’s false peace gives way to the Second Seal’s open violence. The deception phase transitions to the destruction phase.

2. “They Should Kill One Another”

This phrase is chilling in its implications. Not just armies killing armies, but:

  • Citizen killing citizen

  • Neighbor killing neighbor

  • Perhaps even family member killing family member

Jesus warned: “And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death” (Matthew 10:21).

The Second Seal fractures social bonds. The cohesion that holds communities together dissolves into mutual destruction.

3. A Great Sword

The sword (machaira) given to the rider is not the long sword of military conquest, but the short sword of close combat and civil violence. This suggests:

  • Internal conflict more than external invasion

  • Personal violence more than distant warfare

  • The breakdown of civil order

Dr. Luginbill notes that while the tribulation will include large-scale wars, the Second Seal particularly emphasizes the collapse of civil peace—violence at the community and interpersonal level.

The Jurisdictional Mechanism: War as Tool

War isn’t a failure of the Beast system—war is a tool of the Beast system.

The pattern:

  1. Create or exploit crisis (tensions always exist to be inflamed)

  2. Offer peace through compliance (the white horse approach)

  3. If refused, unleash violence until resistance is broken

  4. Offer peace again—now on the system’s terms

The Sea/Air jurisdiction uses both the carrot (deception) and the stick (violence). Those who saw through the First Seal’s deception now face the Second Seal’s sword.

External conquest creates resistance and unity. Internal division creates chaos that demands intervention—intervention that always comes with jurisdictional strings attached.

Current Events: The Convergence of Conflicts

The Nuclear Threshold

We are closer to nuclear war than at any point since the Cuban Missile Crisis. Here’s what’s happening right now:

Russia’s Nuclear Posture

Following Western approval for Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory with NATO-supplied missiles, Russia has:

  • Updated its nuclear doctrine to lower the threshold for nuclear weapon use

  • Conducted large-scale nuclear drills involving all three components of its nuclear triad

  • Moved tactical nuclear weapons to Belarus

  • Explicitly threatened strikes on NATO decision-making centers

On January 6, 2025, Ukraine attacked the Zaporozhe Nuclear Power Plant with drones in a desperate attempt to cause a radiation disaster. Ukraine is trying to “up-the-ante” because NATO has made clear that if radiation emanates from inside Ukraine into a NATO country, NATO will consider that radiation an “attack” and will enter the war on the side of Ukraine. Ukraine’s military is collapsing all along the front lines, losing over 50km² per day. They are DESPERATE to get NATO into the fight.

China’s Strategic Window

Military strategists believe China views the Ukraine conflict as a strategic window to move on Taiwan while Western resources are stretched thin. In August 2025, China massed troops in Fujian, directly opposite Taiwan. China’s Defense Minister stated publicly: “If China’s sovereignty over Taiwan is threatened, U.S. military bases in Japan and South Korea will become legitimate targets.”

China has moved three aircraft carrier strike groups around Taiwan. They’ve begun “Justice Mission 2025” joint military drills involving Army, Navy, Air Force, and Rocket Force units. For the first time in history, China is moving nuclear ICBMs in conjunction with military exercises around Taiwan.

Iran’s Regional Powder Keg

With proxy forces throughout the Middle East and a near-breakout nuclear capability, Iran represents an unpredictable wild card. Leaked TOP SECRET documents from March 2025 show Israel in its final planning stage for a major “Aerial Assault” and “Cyber Offensive” attack upon Iran’s nuclear sites.

Iran has declared it will launch ALL its missiles at Israel until the country is destroyed if attacked again. Russian and Chinese aircraft have been landing in Tehran, providing Iran with advanced surface-to-air defenses and rumored “Quantum” radar to detect stealth aircraft.

The President of the Israeli Knesset told AIPAC members: “We may have to attack Iran again.” But as one analyst noted: “In case you were wondering what the Israeli plan was, let me share with you that plan in great detail: it doesn’t exist. Their plan is to keep escalating until they are forced to stop—either by a devastating war, crippling sanctions, internal collapse, or a civil war.”

The Economic Warfare Dimension

Modern warfare isn’t limited to bullets and bombs:

Energy Weapon: Russia has weaponized natural gas supplies to Europe

Supply Chain Disruption: Chinese control over rare earth minerals and pharmaceutical precursors gives them leverage over Western economies

Financial System Attacks: SWIFT system vulnerabilities and cryptocurrency warfare capabilities create new battlegrounds

Food Supply Manipulation: Export restrictions on wheat, fertilizer, and agricultural products are being used as geopolitical weapons

In April 2025, the U.S. recorded a staggering two-month goods trade deficit of $301 billion—nearly double the size of any previous two-month period. The S&P 500 lost $2.1 trillion in just 20 trading hours. Circuit breakers were triggered in Japan (Nikkei and TOPIX) and Taiwan as markets plunged 9-10%. Over 2,000 mainland-listed companies in China hit limit down.

One financial analyst wrote: “2025 looks a lot like 1928—before ‘The Great Depression’ hit. The parallels aren’t coincidences. They’re warnings written in the language of markets, debt, and human nature.”

The Domestic Unrest Factor

Within nations, we’re seeing unprecedented internal tensions:

Political Polarization: Western democracies are experiencing divisions not seen since the 1960s or their civil wars

Mass Migration Pressures: Tens of millions of displaced people creating social friction and resource competition

Economic Inequality: The wealth gap fueling civil unrest and populist movements

Information Warfare: Social media manipulation and propaganda creating parallel realities within single nations

This is the rider on the red horse—taking peace not just between nations, but within them.

The Stony Ground Exposed

In our Mark 4 framework, the Second Seal tests stony ground—hearts that received the Word with initial joy but have no root to endure affliction.

“And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.” — Mark 4:16-17

The Stony Ground Profile

Stony ground believers are characterized by:

Initial Enthusiasm They receive the Word “immediately” and “with gladness.” They’re excited about faith. They attend conferences, buy books, join small groups. They may even be vocal about their beliefs.

Shallow Roots But beneath the surface, rock prevents deep root growth. There’s no depth of:

  • Biblical knowledge beyond surface familiarity

  • Prayer life beyond crisis requests

  • Community beyond social connection

  • Obedience beyond comfortable compliance

No Endurance When “affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake,” they fall away “immediately.” The same speed that characterized their initial reception characterizes their departure.

Offense The Greek word skandalizo (from which we get “scandalized”) means to stumble, to be tripped up, to take offense. They become offended—at God, at the church, at the cost of discipleship.

The Second Seal Test

The Second Seal specifically tests whether your faith can survive violence, conflict, and the collapse of peace.

Ask yourself honestly:

  • If war came to your region, would your faith hold?

  • If civil unrest erupted in your city, would you stand firm?

  • If you faced physical persecution for your beliefs, would you endure?

  • If family members turned against you, would you remain faithful?

  • If the cost of following Christ became suffering and death, would you pay it?

Stony ground believers will answer these questions in theory—until the red horse rides. Then the rock beneath the surface is exposed.

The Soil Connection: Why Roots Matter

The agricultural imagery is precise. In rocky soil:

  • Seeds germinate quickly because shallow soil warms faster

  • Initial growth looks promising because moisture stays near the surface

  • But roots cannot penetrate the rock layer beneath

  • When heat comes, there’s no deep moisture to sustain the plant

  • The plant withers rapidly—the same speed that characterized its sprouting

The “heat” of the Second Seal is violence, persecution, suffering. The plant that sprouted so promisingly in peaceful times has nowhere to draw sustenance when affliction comes.

The tribulation doesn’t create shallow roots—it reveals them.

The Seven Spokes Under Total Assault

The Resilience Wheel Model shows us that war and violence don’t just affect one area of life—they systematically assault every dimension of human flourishing. The seven spokes connect to a spiritual resilience hub, surrounded by a psychological resilience bridge that translates eternal truths into practical action.

1. Human-Cultural Resilience

This spoke encompasses education, cultural identity, knowledge preservation, values transmission, arts, language, heritage sites, traditions, and the human capital that makes civilization possible.

How War Assaults This Spoke:

  • Educational infrastructure destroyed (schools, universities, libraries bombed)

  • Teacher and scholar exodus (brain drain through death, conscription, flight)

  • Cultural heritage targeting (museums, monuments, religious sites deliberately destroyed)

  • Language suppression (occupying forces ban native languages)

  • Generational knowledge loss (elders die without passing on traditional knowledge)

  • Censorship and propaganda (truth becomes the first casualty)

Current Reality: Over 6 million Ukrainian children have had their education disrupted since 2022. An entire generation in Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan has grown up without adequate schooling. ISIS deliberately destroyed archaeological sites in Mosul and Palmira to erase pre-Islamic history. The Taliban has banned education for girls above sixth grade. Ukraine has imposed its language and curriculum in territories with predominantly native Russian populations, attempting to erase their national identity.

Resilience Response: Alternative learning systems, trauma-informed pedagogy, community-based education, preserved knowledge systems (digital and analog), multilingual education, arts and storytelling maintaining cultural memory, mentorship networks, documentation of cultural heritage before destruction.

Practical Steps NOW: Download educational content while internet is available; learn your cultural history and teach it to children; document family stories and community traditions; learn practical skills from elders; establish study groups with trusted people; preserve art, music, and literature.

2. Social-Political Resilience

This spoke encompasses governance systems, rule of law, civil society, community organization, political participation, justice mechanisms, human rights protection, social cohesion, and conflict resolution.

How War Assaults This Spoke:

  • Institutional collapse (government services cease, courts close)

  • Rule of law breakdown (martial law replaces civil rights)

  • Political violence (assassinations, purges, forced disappearances)

  • Corruption and warlordism (power vacuums filled by armed strongmen)

  • Democratic erosion (elections suspended, emergency powers never relinquished)

  • Social fracture (communities divide along political, ethnic, or religious lines)

  • Trust destruction (neighbor betrays neighbor)

Current Reality: Afghanistan’s government collapsed in August 2021 within weeks—20 years of institution-building evaporated instantly. Yemen has fractured into a failed state. Ukraine operates under martial law where civil liberties are suspended indefinitely. The United Kingdom has criminalized dissent based on presumed “hate crimes”, imprisoning hundreds if not thousands for social media posts. Syrian society is fractured along sectarian lines that will take generations to heal.

Resilience Response: Grassroots leadership structures, distributed decision-making systems, community-based conflict resolution, protection mechanisms for vulnerable populations, accountability systems that function when formal government fails, documentation of crimes for eventual justice.

Practical Steps NOW: Know your neighbors and build trust relationships; establish communication networks independent of government/corporate infrastructure; practice consensus decision-making; learn conflict mediation; organize neighborhood watches and mutual aid; protect the vulnerable before systems collapse.

This is the Primary Spoke for Seal 2. Social-Political Resilience is most directly attacked when peace is taken and civil order collapses. This is where the Five Pillars of the Spiritual Hub are most critically tested.

3. Environmental-Health Resilience

This spoke integrates environmental sustainability with public health, recognizing that human health depends on ecosystem health.

How War Assaults This Spoke:

  • Healthcare infrastructure targeting (hospitals bombed as war crimes)

  • Medical supply chain collapse (pharmaceuticals, equipment depleted)

  • Environmental warfare (deliberate ecosystem destruction, water poisoning)

  • Toxic contamination (chemical weapons, depleted uranium)

  • Disease outbreaks (sanitation breakdown, vaccination collapse)

  • Mental health crisis (mass PTSD, depression, suicide epidemics)

  • Malnutrition and starvation (food supply disruption)

Current Reality: Gaza’s population has been systematically targeted for ethnic cleansing—documented war crimes by Israel. Cholera outbreaks in Yemen have infected 2.5+ million. Mental health crisis among Ukrainian civilians creating generational PTSD. Kakhovka Dam destruction caused catastrophic ecological damage—flooding, water loss, irrigation destruction, massive wildlife death.

Resilience Response: Community health workers, traditional medicine knowledge, preventive health practices, mental health peer support, nutrition security through local food systems, decentralized medical capacity, water purification systems, protection of water sources and ecosystems.

Practical Steps NOW: Build comprehensive medical supplies; learn first aid and emergency medical response; address chronic health conditions NOW; strengthen mental health through spiritual practices, community, therapy; learn traditional medicine; establish water filtration systems; protect local water sources.

4. Science-Technology Resilience

This spoke encompasses technological infrastructure, scientific knowledge, innovation capacity, communication systems, and the tools that enable modern civilization.

How War Assaults This Spoke:

  • Infrastructure destruction (power grids, cell towers, internet cables, data centers bombed)

  • Cyberwarfare (coordinated attacks on critical infrastructure, financial systems)

  • Information warfare (propaganda, disinformation, social media manipulation)

  • Technical brain drain (engineers, scientists, IT professionals flee)

  • Research collapse (universities close, laboratories destroyed)

  • Supply chain disruption (semiconductors, rare earth minerals unavailable)

Current Reality: In January 2025, cyberwarfare has reached unprecedented levels. Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukrainian power infrastructure, leaving millions in the dark and cold. Ukraine’s ATACMS strikes damaged Russia’s early warning radar systems—creating a window where nuclear launch detection was compromised. Information warfare creates parallel realities where citizens cannot agree on basic facts. China’s control over rare earth minerals (97% of processing) gives enormous leverage.

Resilience Response: Decentralized energy systems, alternative communication networks (HAM radio, mesh networks), preservation of technical knowledge in analog formats, local technical repair capacity, protection of scientific archives, low-tech alternatives.

Practical Steps NOW: Establish backup power; learn HAM radio or alternative communication; download critical information and store offline; learn technical repair skills; understand infrastructure systems; develop low-tech alternatives.

5. Economic-Financial Resilience

This spoke encompasses economic systems, financial institutions, currency stability, trade networks, employment, and the exchange mechanisms that enable commerce.

How War Assaults This Spoke:

  • Currency collapse (war spending triggers hyperinflation)

  • Banking system failure (banks close, electronic payments cease)

  • Trade network destruction (supply chains break)

  • Business collapse (unemployment skyrockets)

  • Infrastructure destruction (factories, transportation targeted)

  • Capital flight (investment flees, recovery becomes impossible)

Current Reality: Ukraine’s economy contracted 29% in 2022. Russia faces comprehensive sanctions but has reoriented toward China. April 2025: U.S. recorded $301 billion two-month trade deficit—companies panic-importing before tariffs. S&P 500 lost $2.1 trillion in 20 trading hours. Circuit breakers triggered in Japan, Taiwan, China. Gold and silver hitting all-time highs. U.S. M2 money supply exploded $1.65 trillion in 2025—$116 billion per month created out of thin air.

Resilience Response: Local production capacity, alternative currencies and barter systems, skills-based economy, cooperative enterprises, reduced debt exposure, diversified assets including tangible goods and precious metals, multiple income streams.

Practical Steps NOW: Reduce debt aggressively; build emergency funds in multiple forms (cash, precious metals, trade goods); develop multiple income streams; learn marketable skills; store essential goods; invest in productive assets.

6. Physical-Infrastructure Resilience

This spoke encompasses all physical structures and systems: buildings, transportation, utilities, energy, communication infrastructure, water, sanitation, and the built environment.

How War Assaults This Spoke:

  • Systematic infrastructure destruction (roads, bridges, power plants targeted)

  • Housing destruction (entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble)

  • Transportation network collapse (railways destroyed, airports bombed, ports blockaded)

  • Utilities failure (electricity, gas, water, sewage cease functioning)

  • Communication infrastructure loss (cell towers, internet cables, broadcast facilities destroyed)

Current Reality: Russian missile strikes have systematically targeted Ukrainian power infrastructure for three winters, leaving millions without heat and electricity in sub-zero temperatures. In August 2025, over 60% of Gaza’s housing stock destroyed. Kakhovka Dam destruction demonstrates how single infrastructure targets create cascading catastrophes. Syria’s infrastructure destruction so complete that rebuilding would take decades and hundreds of billions. Modern cities become uninhabitable within days of infrastructure collapse.

Resilience Response: Decentralized systems, redundant systems, hardened infrastructure, rapid repair capacity, alternative systems when primary fails, pre-positioned supplies, distributed utilities, protection of critical infrastructure.

Practical Steps NOW: Establish backup water sources and filtration; secure backup power; winterize housing to survive without utilities; learn basic repair (plumbing, electrical, mechanical); store repair supplies and tools; identify shelter alternatives if housing becomes uninhabitable.

7. Agriculture-Food Security Resilience

This spoke encompasses food production, agricultural systems, food storage, distribution networks, water for irrigation, seed preservation, agricultural knowledge, and nutrition security.

How War Assaults This Spoke:

  • Agricultural land destruction (fields mined, irrigation destroyed, soil contaminated)

  • Food supply weaponization (deliberate starvation as military tactic)

  • Storage facility targeting (grain silos, warehouses, food processing bombed)

  • Transportation disruption (food cannot move from production to consumption)

  • Farmer displacement (fields go unplanted and unharvested)

  • Input supply collapse (seeds, fertilizer, fuel, equipment unavailable)

Current Reality: Russia and Ukraine together produce 30% of global wheat exports—war immediately triggered food crises across Africa and Middle East. Russia has weaponized food supplies, blocking Ukrainian grain exports and bombing storage facilities. Yemen faces world’s worst humanitarian crisis—over 17 million facing food insecurity. Syria’s agricultural production collapsed 40%. Ukraine’s agricultural land contaminated with unexploded ordnance and landmines. Gaza’s food system completely destroyed, 90%+ facing acute food insecurity.

Resilience Response: Local food production capacity, diverse food sources (crops, livestock, wild harvest, fishing), seed preservation, food storage systems, water security for drinking and irrigation, agricultural knowledge operating without industrial inputs, preservation methods, community food networks.

Practical Steps NOW: Build food storage of shelf-stable foods; learn food preservation (canning, drying, fermenting, root cellaring); start growing food in any space available; save seeds from non-GMO heirloom open-pollinated varieties; learn hunting, fishing, foraging; establish relationships with local farmers.

The Psychological Bridge Under Assault

The Second Seal doesn’t just test spiritual depth—it assaults the Psychological Bridge with overwhelming force. Two elements are particularly targeted:

Emotional Regulation Under Fire

War and violence produce extreme emotional pressure:

  • Terror at the threat of death

  • Grief at loss of loved ones

  • Rage at perpetrators of violence

  • Despair at the collapse of normalcy

  • Anxiety about survival

Those without developed emotional regulation will be overwhelmed. Their decisions will be driven by fear rather than faith, by panic rather than principle.

Biblical Foundation:

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:6-7

The “peace that passes understanding” is not the absence of conflict—it’s the presence of God’s regulation in our hearts during conflict. This peace must be developed before the red horse rides, or it won’t be available when needed.

Signs of Weak Emotional Regulation:

  • Panic responses to threatening news

  • Inability to function when afraid

  • Rage that leads to destructive action

  • Grief that becomes despair

  • Anxiety that paralyzes decision-making

Signs of Strong Emotional Regulation:

  • Experiencing fear while still acting faithfully

  • Processing grief without losing hope

  • Channeling anger into righteous action

  • Maintaining peace in chaotic circumstances

  • Making clear decisions under pressure

Practical Development:

  • Practice bringing fear to God in prayer now, before fear is overwhelming

  • Develop the habit of Philippians 4:6-7—prayer with thanksgiving producing peace

  • Build physical foundations (sleep, exercise, nutrition) that support emotional stability

  • Process current anxieties so they don’t compound future ones

Trauma Integration Tested

Many believers carry unresolved trauma from past experiences. The Second Seal will activate and compound that trauma unless it’s been addressed.

Types of Trauma Activated:

  • Past experiences of violence or threat

  • Childhood trauma around safety and security

  • Grief from previous losses

  • Betrayal trauma from broken relationships

  • Witnessing violence or suffering

Why This Matters: Unintegrated trauma creates:

  • Hypervigilance that exhausts resources

  • Triggers that override rational decision-making

  • Reliving past events rather than responding to present reality

  • Increased vulnerability to PTSD when new trauma occurs

  • Compromised ability to support others

Integration Process: The psychological bridge requires trauma integration before crisis:

  • Acknowledge what happened without minimizing

  • Process grief that was buried or avoided

  • Identify triggers and develop response strategies

  • Practice grounding techniques that reconnect to present reality

  • Build support networks for accountability and care

  • If necessary, seek professional trauma therapy

The gift of peace before tribulation includes time to do this work. Those who avoid it now will face compounded trauma when the red horse rides.

The Spiritual Hub: Five Pillars Under Maximum Stress

All seven spokes connect through the Psychological Bridge to the Spiritual Hub—our relationship with God through Christ. The hub consists of Five Pillars that must be developed before the Second Seal tests them to destruction.

Identity in Christ (Pillar 1)

When everything else is stripped away by war, who are you?

Stony ground believers derive identity from:

  • Profession and accomplishments (destroyed by war)

  • Possessions and status (lost in conflict)

  • Relationships and roles (severed by violence)

  • National or ethnic identity (weaponized by the red horse)

When these are taken, they have no identity left. They become whoever they need to be to survive.

Deep-rooted identity is anchored in Christ:

“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.” — Colossians 3:3

Your fundamental identity is:

  • Child of God (cannot be taken)

  • Justified by Christ (cannot be undone)

  • Sealed by the Spirit (cannot be broken)

  • Citizen of heaven (cannot be conquered)

Test: If you lost everything tomorrow—home, possessions, relationships, even life—would you know who you are?

Eternal Perspective (Pillar 2)

The Second Seal forces the question: What matters?

Stony ground believers are oriented toward:

  • Temporal comfort and safety

  • Earthly goals and achievements

  • This-world success and approval

  • Avoidance of suffering at all costs

When war demands suffering for faith, the cost-benefit calculation fails. Faith was worth it when free; it’s not worth it when it requires loss.

Deep-rooted perspective sees beyond the present:

“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Test: Would you rather live comfortably as a coward or die faithfully as a martyr?

Scripture Foundation (Pillar 3)

The Second Seal will test: What do you actually believe, and how deeply?

Stony ground believers have:

  • Superficial Bible knowledge (memory verses and popular passages)

  • Secondhand theology (what they’ve been told, not what they’ve studied)

  • Emotional attachment to faith (feelings-based, not truth-anchored)

  • Unexamined assumptions (beliefs that collapse under pressure)

When persecution comes, shallow knowledge produces shallow conviction. They know enough to identify as Christian but not enough to die as Christian.

Deep-rooted foundation is built through:

  • Systematic Bible study (not just devotional reading)

  • Sound doctrine understood and owned (not just repeated)

  • Tested convictions (examined under pressure before crisis)

  • Integration of truth into life (belief that produces obedience)

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” — 2 Timothy 2:15

Test: Could you articulate why you believe what you believe if your life depended on it?

Community Integration (Pillar 4)

The Second Seal fractures relationships. Who will stand with you?

Stony ground believers have:

  • Social church connections (based on common interests, not covenant)

  • Fair-weather friendships (present in good times, absent in bad)

  • Individualistic faith (Christianity as personal preference, not corporate body)

  • Superficial accountability (no one knows them deeply enough to help)

When pressure comes, social networks fragment. Everyone scatters to protect themselves. Isolation makes them vulnerable to both physical threat and spiritual compromise.

Deep-rooted community is covenant-based:

  • Mutual commitment that transcends preference

  • Shared conviction worth suffering for together

  • Practical interdependence (skills, resources, support)

  • Spiritual accountability that maintains faithfulness

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Test: Who would hide you, feed you, or die with you if persecution came?

Active Obedience (Pillar 5)

The Second Seal will require costly obedience:

  • Refusing to participate in unjust violence—even when pressured

  • Protecting the vulnerable even at personal risk

  • Maintaining integrity when survival seems to require compromise

  • Continuing to love enemies even when they’re trying to kill you

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” — Matthew 5:44

This command doesn’t disappear when the red horse rides. It becomes more difficult—and more essential.

Stony ground believers practiced obedience when it was convenient. Deep-rooted believers practice obedience when it costs everything.

Test: What would you refuse to do even if refusal meant death?

The Three Threats: Pressure Intensifies

Dr. Luginbill identifies three threats to believers during the tribulation: Deception, Pressure, and Temptation. The Second Seal intensifies the second threat.

From Deception to Pressure

The First Seal conquered through deception—controlling narratives, manufacturing consent.

The Second Seal adds pressure—physical violence, threat of death, loss of security. Those who saw through the deception now face a different test: Can you endure suffering for your convictions?

Many who resist deception will fail under pressure. They knew the truth, but couldn’t pay the cost of holding it.

The Pressure Mechanism

Why Shallow Roots Fail

The stony ground believer cannot endure because:

  • Their faith was based on benefits, not on Christ Himself

  • Their commitment was to comfort, not to the cross

  • Their Christianity was addition to their life, not the center of it

  • Their roots never went deeper than emotion and enthusiasm

When the cost rises, the calculation changes. What seemed worth believing when faith was free becomes too expensive when faith requires suffering.

The Revealing Function

The tribulation doesn’t create your condition—it reveals it.

The Second Seal will reveal:

The time to develop deep roots is now, while relative peace remains. The time to build covenant community is now, before pressure reveals its absence. The time to integrate trauma is now, before war compounds it.

When the red horse rides, it will be too late to grow roots.

What will you have?

The Red Horse and the Lamb

The red horse is terrifying. Peace taken. Violence unleashed. Civil order collapsed.

But remember who opened the seal.

The Lamb opened the Second Seal. The violence is permitted, not random. The chaos is bounded, not ultimate. The destruction serves purposes we may not fully understand but can trust.

And the Lamb who opens the seals is the same Lamb who was slain—who knows violence, who endured suffering, who conquered through apparent defeat.

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” — John 16:33

The red horse cannot override the Lamb’s victory. The violence of the Second Seal is a chapter, not the conclusion. Those who endure will see what lies beyond.

The rider on the red horse is loose. NATO generals speak of pre-emptive strikes. China moves nuclear missiles openly. Iran promises massive retaliation. Russia lowers its nuclear threshold. The global financial system shows all the warning signs of 1928. Peace is being taken from the earth—between nations and within them—just as Revelation prophesied.

But we serve the Lamb who opened the scroll. We know how this story ends. Our calling is not to prevent the inevitable, but to remain faithful through it—building deep roots through all seven spokes, connected via the psychological bridge to the spiritual hub, demonstrating that our faith is in Christ Himself, not in the temporary peace He has permitted to be taken.

For Reflection and Prayer

Spiritual Hub Assessment:

  • How deep are my roots, really? Would I stand firm if persecution came tomorrow?

  • Which of the five pillars is weakest in my life? How can I strengthen it?

Psychological Bridge Assessment:

  • How would I respond emotionally to violence? What past trauma might be activated?

  • Have I done the trauma integration work, or am I hoping it won’t matter?

  • Can I regulate fear, or does fear control me?

Social-Political Spoke Assessment (Primary):

  • Do I have covenant relationships that would survive the Second Seal?

  • Has my community prepared together? Do we have governance structures?

  • Have I developed defense capabilities—physical, legal, spiritual?

All Seven Spokes Assessment:

  • Which spoke is most vulnerable to war and violence in my life?

  • What practical resilience steps can I take THIS WEEK in each spoke area?

  • Am I building redemptive resilience to serve others, or survivalist hoarding for myself?

Soil Condition Assessment:

  • Am I stony ground with enthusiasm but no depth?

  • What would it take to break up the rock and cultivate deeper soil?

  • Am I willing to do that work now?

Lord, I confess that I don’t know how I would respond when peace is taken. I want to believe I would stand firm, but I know my weakness. Deepen my roots, Lord. Break up the rock beneath my soil. Give me the gift of tears to process the grief I’ve been avoiding. Heal the trauma that could become a liability. Build in me the emotional regulation that comes only from Your peace. Surround me with covenant community that will stand when the world falls apart. Prepare me for the red horse—not with bravado, but with the deep, quiet confidence that comes from knowing You hold all things, even chaos, in Your sovereign hands. I trust not in my own strength but in the Lamb who was slain and yet lives. Come what may, I am Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
